Marine Composite Panel Rock Wool

ABM® Marine Composite Panel Rock Wool (ABM-SR RS Series & ABM-SR SL Series) is a core material specially developed for marine composite panels. It features excellent compressive and tensile strength, extremely low water absorption and moisture uptake, and non-combustible fire performance.

The SL series is cut along the length of the RS series. During installation, the fiber direction of the SL series should be oriented perpendicular to the metal panels to achieve higher mechanical strength and a flatter surface.

Fire Safety Performance

ABM® marine rock wool is made from natural rocks and is classified as a Class A non-combustible material. With a melting temperature above 1000 °C, it effectively delays flame spread. In the event of a fire, it does not emit toxic gases or molten droplets. Its excellent high-temperature performance and low thermal conductivity at elevated temperatures provide critical time for saving lives and minimizing property damage.

Hydrophobic Performance

ABM® marine water-repellent rock wool has a water repellency rate ≥ 99% and a mass moisture content ≤ 1%. Short-term water absorption (partial immersion for 24 h) ≤ 0.5 kg/m²; long-term water absorption (partial immersion for 28 days) ≤ 2.0 kg/m². Even if the product is soaked by high-pressure water, drying does not affect its performance, and it does not swell or deform.

Advanced Noise Reduction

ABM® marine rock wool consists of highly porous, interconnected fibers. Sound energy is converted into heat through fiber vibration and friction, significantly reducing reflection and transmission of sound waves, providing a quiet and undisturbed environment for work and living spaces.

Sustainable Performance

The product contains no asbestos. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) under the World Health Organization has removed rock wool from the list of possibly carcinogenic substances. Its water extract is neutral or slightly alkaline, causing no damage or corrosion to contacting materials. ABM® marine rock wool does not contain CFCs, HCFCs, or HFCs and does not harm the ozone layer, making it an environmentally friendly material.

Air Permeability

The open, porous fiber structure gives the rock wool excellent air permeability and self-drying capability, allowing water vapor to pass freely through the material and effectively reducing condensation and mold growth.

Insulation Efficiency

ABM® marine rock wool fibers are slender, with an average diameter of 5 μm, better than the China's national standard of ≤7 μm. The slag ball content is low, about 5%, well below the China's national standard of ≤10%. These properties result in low thermal conductivity and excellent insulation performance.

High Energy Savings

Over its full service life, ABM® marine rock wool offsets more than 100 times the energy required for its manufacturing, shipping, and end-of-life processing, making it an extremely energy-saving insulation solution.
